Enabling & Promoting Adaptive Surfing

In 2012 SURFaddict (the Portuguese Association for Adaptive Surfing) and its volunteers made it possible for people with disabilities in Portugal to connect with the ocean through surfing in a safe and joyful way.

Today, Vice President of the Association Teresa Abraços, an iconic female veteran surfer, actively inspires others to take part in and support this project. Teresa has a special place in the heart of those she lovingly tutors, a feeling very much apparent in everyone’s smile at these much-loved events. Lisbon Portugal, 2019.

A True Waterman

Environmental activist and waterman Miguel Lacerda is committed to raising awareness of the implications that human waste has on our ocean environments.

Most days Miguel can be found hiking and climbing dangerous coastal cliffs and caves, cleaning up rubbish discarded or lost by others.  Our beaches and ocean are cleaner as a result of this determination and the proliferation of his message. Lisbon, Portugal, May 2019.
